Who Can You Really Trust To Never Let You Down?

Who can you turn to?

So many people let us down, family friends, bosses and our leaders. Who can you turn to? Who can you trust?

"But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him." Jeremiah 17:7.

BLESSED

We do not use the word blessed much these days, but it can be thought of as "Happy" or to be in a place of contentment. It can mean that you have God's favor.

IS THE ONE

This is the ultimate singular. The one is not someone who is looking at God and faith as an extension of a family, culture, a formal religion that is inherited, or someone who is observing traditions for social reasons. This one is an individual who himself has personally chosen to trust; he would say it is a "Me and God thing." It is personal in the sense of ownership but it is not secretive or hidden.

WHO TRUST

Trust is unwavering faith. Believing in someone and looking to them with hopeful expectation. It is based on knowing the person and knowing that they are trustworthy.

IN THE LORD

Your faith is only as good as the thing you trust in. If you trust in a statue then your faith is only as good as that statue. If you trust in a person then your faith is only as good as that person. To trust in the Lord is the most secure trust you can have. He is ever able to save and provide.

The title of Lord reminds us of how God is the one who rules over all things. He is the ultimate authority and no one is higher in rank than he is As Lord of all he can command the stars and the seas the wind and flowers.  If you were to trust anyone there is no one better.

He is worthy of our trust, not only is the Lord the All-Powerful-One, he is one who never breaks His word and always keeps His promises found in the Bible. He is the Creator Father who loves you and sent his Son to be our salvation by sacrificial death.

WHOSE CONFIDENCE

Confidence here is like trust in action, it is to trust with experience, trust that has been tested, and is based on knowledge. If you do not know anything about someone it is almost impossible to trust them.

IS IN HIM

There is no one more worthy to put your trust in than The Lord. Express to him that you are trusting in him and that you are confident of his help. And whenever doubts occur reaffirm your trust in The Lord.

What Happens When You Trust God? Jeremiah 17:8

To trust God more- it sounds like a good thing but how will it help us in the real world of hard knocks?

"But blessed is the one who trusts in the LORD, whose confidence is in him. They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit." Jeremiah 17:8

BLESSED
To be blessed is to be happy or to have God's favor or grace.

TRUST THE LORD
To trust the Lord is very personal, you don't inherit it from parents or get it from your country, and it doesn't come on you in some magic way in your house of worship.  It is a conscious decision you have to make yourself.

CONFIDENCE
This is trust that does not waver.  It is the result of spending much time getting to know the one you trust in.  As you spend time with God you will not only trust Him but also have a trust that is based on God and not based on some lesser thing like human philosophy or even religion.

Tree with roots in a stream.
THE TREE
This blessing is likened to a tree that is well watered.  Since the psalmist lived in an arid country the image of a tree by streams of water is powerful and desirable.
     * It is planted by water and is well nurtured by the roots.
     * It does not fear the desert heat because it has a source of water close by.
     * It's leaves are always green, it will not wither or go dormant.  A tree with green leaves is beautiful.
     * It has no worries in drought because the water is near.
     * It never fails to bear fruit, so it is a blessing to those around it.

It is the picture of everything a tree should be.

THE METAPHOR
As the tree grows deep roots it is protected, nourished, healthy and fruitful; the same can be said for those who develop deep roots in the Lord that we have a source of spiritual nourishment, protection, and peace.

YOU CAN BE LIKE THAT TREE
Trusting the Lord blesses you in many ways, like the tree you will be free from worry, have a source of strength, and confidence, and you will be a blessing to those around you

A deep faith comes from deep roots in the Lord.  Spend time with God in prayer, thoughtful reading of His Word the Bible, spending time in private and community worship and in acts of serving him.

If you do not know the Lord as savior then see this other post.

Where can I Find Peace Of Mind?

We have troubles and worries that follow us like hungry wolves lurking to slaughter any joy. Where can we find peace for our mind?

"You will keep him in perfect peace him whose mind is stayed on you, because he trust in you." Isaiah 26:3

PERFECT PEACE

God promises not just peace but perfect peace. If it is perfect it will be complete and cover all areas, it will override all issues. It will be much bigger than all of our worries.

MIND IS STAYED

This is not positive thinking but disciplined thinking. When worries nibble at the edges of our thoughts we must not allow their pestering to entangle our minds. Instead, we must bring our thoughts back to The Almighty.

STAYED ON YOU
We may find a measure of peace in a beautiful sunset over tranquil seas, a lover's embrace, or other experiences, but these are temporary and subject to circumstances. When we keep our thoughts regularly on the Lord God Almighty we will experience His peace.

BECAUSE
When you meditate on God frequently and learn about Him in His Word, the Bible, you will discover how much you can trust Him. There is no one higher than the Creator of the Universe and if you have a relationship with Him established on trusting in His promises from His Word then what is there to worry about?  The world may still fall apart around you but you will have a peace that will make others wonder.

Keep your mind on the Lord: make it a habit to set your mind on God by reading His Word, prayer, and being in his presence- you will learn to trust Him and you will experience perfect peace.

KNOW THE LORD
If you do not know the Lord in a personal way and want to learn more see my other blog.

Why Does Living For God Seem To Get Harder and Harder? Judges 7:7

We follow God and try to obey him but our lives get harder and our problems seem bigger.  Is something wrong?

"The Lord said to Gideon, With the three hundred men that lapped I will save you and give the Midianites into your hands.  Let all the others go home." Judges 7:7.

BACKGROUND
The Midianites were enemies of God's people.  God chose Gideon to defend against them.  Thousands responded to Gideon's call but God reduced the numbers by instruction and then a test where Gideon was to observe how they drank from the river; those who drank face-down were excluded while the few who scooped the water with their hands and drank erect were selected.  This test left only three hundred to oppose the thousands of Midian.

GOD
God explains that he didn't want Gideon to boast.  God may share his glory but will not permit others to take it. Throughout the Bible, we see that God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble. (Proverbs 3:34).

GIDEON
Gideon did not give an early indication of greatness or leadership.  God had to push him into action. Once Gideon began things got harder, less logical, and full of doom, in spite of the fact that he was finally obeying and following God. You would think that when you follow God things would get clearer and easier but Gideon found himself with only three hundred against thousands, death and national disaster were obvious.

BUT
But God. (That is not a complete sentence, but it is a powerful statement.) One plus God is a majority. If Gideon faced the armies with his small force alone then defeat would have been certain; but God was in the picture, he had a plan and he was in charge.

VICTORY
God gave the victory. The three hundred didn't even carry weapons into the battle but lights and trumpets. The enemy turned on themselves; Gideon and his men just stood and witnessed the victory.

We may face overwhelming problems with no logical hope of victory, but remember God;
     * Continue to follow.
     * Continue to obey.
     * Continue to believe-
and you may find yourself standing blowing a trumpet announcing God is victorious.

What Is The Best Way To Handle Fear? Advice From The Bible.

Sometimes the things we fear are so huge that we cannot think of anything else, in time fear grips and cripples us. Where can we turn to overcome fear?

"He said, Listen king Jehoshaphat and all who live in Judah and Jerusalem! This is what the Lord says to you. Do not be afraid or discouraged because of this great army, for the battle is not yours but God's." 2 Chronicles 20:15.

A LITTLE BACKGROUND
The Bible tells of an alliance of enemies that marched against the Lord's people. Facing certain destruction and death King Jehoshaphat sought the Lord with prayer. After he prayed the prophet came with the message not to fear because the battle is the Lords.

DO NOT BE AFRAID
There are many reasons we are afraid in life. There are circumstances outside our control, there are dangers that threaten us and our loved ones, and there are uncertainties in our future.

There is a bigger reason to not be afraid- God:
     * He is in control.
     * Nothing catches Him by surprise.
     * He will never lose a battle.
     * He is in charge of all things.
     * He has power over all things.
     * He is bigger than all things.

THE BATTLE IS NOT YOURS
When there is a problem in our lives we think we need to act and we say, "What can I do?" God was in control long before we found out about the problem and He will remain in control long after we have forgotten the matter.

BUT GOD'S
God is able to win the battle. We have to do our part which is to obey Him and trust Him, God is able to deliver.

In 2 Chronicles 20 the story ends with the enemies turning on each other and annihilating each other. The Lord's people went to meet them in battle but found only dead bodies as far as the eye could see.

When you face the multitude of foes seek the Lord and pray to Him for deliverance because He is able.

Where To Find Hope In A Bad Situation

What help and comfort is there for someone in a bad situation?

"Those who trust in the Lord are like Mount Zion, which cannot be shaken but endures forever. As the mountains surround Jerusalem, So the Lord surrounds his people both now and forevermore." Psalm 125:1-2, NIV.

A REMINDER
Some things we hear over and over and though they are old and simplistic they are still true. We need reminders to be practical in our faith. Not just to start our day or week with a little prayer and go on without another thought about God; that would be a good beginning but a poor ending.

TRUST
We are saved by trusting the Lord, but we need to "trust in the Lord" must as a daily or moment by moment faith. As we go through our day we must bring God along. Every day is full of situations, problems, thoughts, feelings, people, and things that challenge us. We must not rely on our own ideas or the ability to solve them. Sometimes a quick prayer as an expression of faith in God is all it takes. Other times it is more complicated and takes seeking Our Lord out in prayer, searching the scriptures, meditation, and counsel with godly friends.
  • We need to pray often and tell God we are trusting him and tell him the reasons why.
  • We need to remember Bible verses that have promises and pray to claim them.
  • When we are trusting in ourselves we must repent and tell God, and renew our trust in God.
  • We need to stop running back and forth, both physically, and mentally, and rest in Him.
AN ENCOURAGEMENT
It is encouraging that "The Lord surrounds his people." As we go through difficult situations we can know the Lord went ahead, he is beside us, and he is covering our backs. We can trust him and then drop our guard because he is our guard on every side. We may feel all alone like no one understands, no one knows our pain and worry; but he was there first, he is next to us with his hand on our shoulders, and he is behind cleaning up the mess. He surrounds us and the enemies can circle all day long but they won't find a crack to get in.

A HOPE
He surrounds us both "now and forevermore." There will never be a time when God does not surround us. We may feel like he has left- but these feelings are not the fact. When trials come we need to pray and claim this truth, "He is surrounding me." We could look at those trials and say, "Do your worst- God has me covered!"

What Does God Want In Our Prayers? Psalm 62:8

Often our prayers are unsatisfying to ourselves and we wonder if they please God. We need more than answered petitions; we sense there is an intimacy with God available but it is somewhere beyond our reach.

"Trust in him at all times, O people; pour out your hearts to him, for God is our refuge." Psalm 62: 8. NIV.*

TRUST
Of course we should trust in him, but what does it meant "at all times?" We trust Him for the gift of salvation, when we put our soul in his hands once and for all; but at all times suggest an everyday practice of trust, we must trust God today for our need. There is no vacation when it comes to trusting God. We may have had a recent victory, or miracle, but we don't put trust on the shelf for the next upcoming event. We must trust him in good times, bad times and the boring every day times.

POUR
To "pour out your hearts to him," is a picture of a container being emptied of its contents, like a can that is tipped over and what is inside dumps out without control. Often our prayers are "Quickies" where we list our needs, and then trot off. There is nothing wrong with quickies, but God longs for us to go deeper; we need to tell him ALL ABOUT IT. We might say, "God, I need a new job," but instead we should pray, "God, I have trouble at work, I haven't gotten advancement though others have, I feel belittled, I feel trapped, my family is stressed out with bills, I feel like a failure, that I am wasting my gifts here. I wanted to do something more creative..." etc. in other words, empty your heart, or, dump it all out.

We tell God the details, not just the big facts, we tell God what we are feeling and why, not because he doesn't know but because we need to say it, and he blesses intimacy with him. This takes time, time away from TV and Hobbies. This could change one's walk with God; it will change of our view of God, and change in our heart.

REFUGE
A refuge is a place of safety in times of danger. When we trust God we begin to experience him and we find that he is a refuge. He accepts our broken dreams and heartaches, our disappointments, and failures. We can hide our heart in God, and trust Him with all our feelings; we know He is gentle and caring, patient and understanding with our heart.

Whatever frustrations, trials, or hurts you have may you find refuge in pouring out your heart to God.

How To Handle Fear. Psalm 56:3

We all have times when we are afraid. Fear comes in many forms and is caused by many sources.  When it comes, what can we do? The Bible offers hope:

"When I am afraid, I put my trust in you." Psalm 56:3, NIV*.

BACKGROUND

Fear, encouragement from Psalm 56:3
This quote is from a psalm written by King David when he was captured by the Philistines. He expected torturous death for himself and his followers.

Sometimes we are captured by our enemies. They may be the enemies of debt, solitude, failure, loss, humiliation, or something much worse.

WHY DOES GOD ALLOW TRIALS
We may puzzle why God allows these dreadful events in our lives. Perhaps it is so...

     * We will grow through the challenges.
     * Or we will see life differently.
     * Or so we will have compassion on others that experience similar struggles.
     * Or, as in the case of Job, a test to justify God.
     * Or so we can have an opportunity to trust God.

WHY TRUST?

The verse above expresses how one man, David, handled fear. Though David was a warrior and experienced hand-to-hand combat, he acknowledges that he had fear for he says, "When I am afraid," not "if I become afraid."  He resolved to trust God. He made a decision to trust.  He didn't run from it, and he didn't fight it. He reasoned that God is worthy of trust.

     * God is greater than the problem.
     * God is more powerful.
     * God is all-knowing.
     * God is all-loving.
     * God is just and fair.
     * God rewards those who trust in him.
     * God is good and does good.

ACT OF TRUST

There is an action in this verse. David is not just contemplating positive thoughts- he "puts his trust..." The act of trust in God is personal, and we each must decide to trust in God since God is the creator of relationships. How we each experience him may be unique based on our relationship with him.

For some, trust is best expressed in a prayer where one tells God they trust him for the circumstances. For others, it may be a resolution that God is good no matter what and to move ahead in a situation. For others, it is a moment-by-moment refreshing of the truth that God is in charge of our good and to not react in fear. For some, it is to resolve to be faithful to God no matter what.

Whatever God allows in our lives is for our good, and he is worthy of our trust.

What Did Jesus Say About Worry, Luke 10:41-42

We struggle with priorities, objectives, and commitments if only there was a single guideline that would solve all the problems of personal management.

“‘Martha, Martha,’ the Lord answered, ‘you are worried and upset about many things, but only one thing is needed, Mary has chosen what is better and it will not be taken away from her.’” Luke 10:41-42. NIV.

A LITTLE BACKGROUND
What does Jesus say about worry
Jesus was a guest in Martha’s home. She was cooking, serving, cleaning, and meeting the needs of a famous teacher and his many followers while Mary was sitting at the feet of Jesus, listening. Martha complained to Jesus about Mary’s neglect of the duties of hospitality.

JESUS
The important thing is not the two ladies but what the Lord said. He pointed out that Martha was worried and upset about many things. Who couldn’t relate to that? We have many personal challenges in our lives in this time of economic and social desperation. Even faithful Christians who serve the Lord are not exempt. Our acts of service may be shadowed with worries and concerns. Like Martha, we are practical, we are getting an education, a job, a promotion, a house, or a family dinner on the table. Like Martha, we are serving the Lord, showing hospitality, serving, and meeting the needs of his church. We are so busy, busy, busy!

FREEDOM
Mary and Martha. Luke 10:41-2
Jesus liberates us, saying, "Only one thing is needed." He saw all Martha was doing, and there was nothing wrong with her activities; they, too, were good, but only one was needed. Martha might have thought Jesus was speaking of her guest's needs, but the need was not his; it was hers, the ultimate human need. Martha's sister, Mary, found that her need to be met by making the correct choice. It was not a choice to ignore the duties of hospitality but a choice to come to Jesus. She chose what is better than the other things. What Martha was doing was good, but Mary chose the better. She chose to come to Jesus.

DOING
Like Martha, we are full of doing the necessary things. Serving will end, the dishes will be cleaned, the house swept, and the pantry tidied, (and if they are not- in a thousand years it won't matter). The choice of Mary was eternal since no encounter with Jesus is ever temporary; every life that touches his is forever marked. Jesus said, "And it will not be taken away from her." We must become like Mary and choose Jesus. We should beware of our frantic activity and start sitting at Jesus' feet. In choosing Him, we choose the best, and that will not be taken away.

What Does The Bible Say About Revenge Proverbs 20:22

What should you do when you want to get revenge?

There are times in our life when others do some really mean hateful thing to us and we are deeply hurt. We would like to get back and settle the score.  The feelings that drive us to revenge are powerful and strong, their destructive nature is like cancer that consumes us and their bile can destroy those around us. Is there a better way?

"Do not say, 'I'll pay you back for this wrong!' Wait for the Lord and he will deliver you."Proverbs 20:22 NIV.

A COMMAND

The Bible responds with a "Do not..." statement, not just a word of teaching or advice but this verse is worded with the strength of a command.

HOW TO START

We need to stifle the thoughts of revenge early and quickly; we should not even speak about it.  When thoughts of revenge come we should redirect them to thoughts of waiting on the Lord.

WAIT
The teaching to wait comes up often in scripture.  There are many reasons why:
     * To wait without giving in or compromise is a statement of faith.
     * To wait reaffirms the lordship of God over us and our situation.
     * To wait is a testimony seen by men and angels that we believe in the promises of God and His commitment to us.

We wait, not for time to heal, or for some opportunity, or wait for the sake of waiting, we are to wait for The Lord. We wait on purpose for the one who created all things by His mighty power and who has the power to change all things, the one who rules the universe and will judge the hearts of all men. We wait with a focus on the Lord and not our grievances.

GOD'S PROMISE
This verse ends with a conditional promise.  The condition is not to act on our desire for revenge but to wait for the Lord instead.  The promise is that he will deliver.  That the Lord will make things right, it may be that the Lord delivers us from our enemies, or the situation or from ourselves and our bitterness.

DELIVERANCE
As much as we need to be delivered from our enemies we also need deliverance from our desire for revenge. Though God is a just God He may be more interested in changing our natures than balancing justice.  He allows circumstances in our lives to give us the challenges we need to grow. He may deliver us from ourselves and not our oppressors, that may be the greater deliverance.

A prayer:
Lord, I feel wronged and victimized.
I feel I do not deserve this.
I have an idea of justice,
Forgive me my anger
And my bitterness.
Waiting is hard Lord.
I want to see action now,
And change right away.
Please fill me with your Spirit
That we may be in accord
And accept your deliverance.
Let your divine will be done;
If it is to make right this wrong
Then I thank you,
If it is to make me a better person
May it be one in the image of Jesus
Who knew no sin
Died in the place of sinners.
As in all things let you will be done.

One Man’s Hope in the Darkest Night Lights the Way for us All. Daniel 6:23 NIV

We all have dark times and wonder where we can find hope. The Bible tells of a man who lived in dark times but knew where to look for hope.

HIS HOPE CAN BE OURS
We can learn hope from the man who kept faith when everyone was against him. His jealous enemies fabricated a law that no righteous man could obey, forbidding prayer to any god but the king. In spite of a possible death sentence, he continued to practice a thrice-daily prayer at his window. He was cast in the lion's den, where a stone was rolled over the entrance and sealed until the following morning. In the morning, he was still alive and…

"The King was overjoyed and gave orders to lift Daniel out of the den and when Daniel was lifted from the den, no wound was found in him because he trusted in his God." Daniel 6:23. NIV.

FAITH
Faith does not guarantee we will be spared testing; rather, the faithful are proved in the test. Daniel faithfully served God, but he still went through that night in the lion's den. He trusted God not only in the darkness of the night but in the darkness of not knowing; he did not know if he would be delivered or slain like other martyred prophets. Daniel trusted God before he went into the lion's den, and he trusted God while in the lion's den. We may experience our own lion’s den, one of despair, or illness or loss, but like Daniel, we must trust God. God loves us and has a plan for deliverance; we may not understand it, but we must resolve to be like Daniel and trust.

TRUST
Daniel trusted God, and God moved the king to favor Daniel. In the morning, the king came and gave orders; he didn’t just send a secretary. Our God, the King of Heaven, is also watching vigil over our dark night. At the right time, God will give orders to bring us out of the depths of despair.

LIFTED
Daniel was lifted out of the den. The king didn’t tell Daniel to climb out; instead, he commanded others to lift Daniel out. Daniel didn’t need to climb; he just needed to let himself be lifted. Like Daniel, we need to have faith in God and allow God to lift us.

No wound was found on him because he trusted in his God. Daniel came out alive, and not just alive; he was untouched by the lions. God honored Daniel for his trust in Him, which gives us hope.

THE GOD OF DANIEL
Daniel is an exception in the lives of the saints. There is no guarantee that we will have the same deliverance as Daniel or be spared of wounds. But the Bible guarantees this—you may have his God. The God of Daniel is waiting to be your God. He rewards those who look to Him in faith. Daniel’s faith was expressed in his prayers, and we may call on God for our personal deliverance in prayer.

How Can I Find Good in My Problems And Trials? Psalm 119:71

Sometimes we go through a hard time of testing or difficulty and ask, "How can any good come out of this mess?"

"It was good for me to be afflicted so that I might learn your decrees." Psalm 119:71

IT WAS GOOD
The author of this Bible verse makes a declaration, he affirms, "It was good..." He had some trial, and he experienced that test turned out for his good. He affirms it as a truth. He appraised what happened and he decided it was “good.”

AFFLICTION
Affliction is severe distress, almost to the limits of endurance. We all face grief at one time or another, and like him, we may find God’s good purpose in the end.

DECREES
The Psalmist learned the "decrees" or the teachings of The Almighty. He didn't find comfort in some philosophy or idea developed by professors, but he found comfort in God’s Word. God reveals himself in his Word, the Bible.

No doubt the psalmist knew the Commandments and the rules of his faith, but what he learned was more than words recited back to a teacher. Knowing something in your head is not the same as learning through experience.

This is God’s will for us who have come to Him, we are in a relationship with God, and a relationship is not a bunch of rules but interactions and experiences that lead us to know the person.

A GOOD THING
Affliction will come and when it does we must be ready to learn from God. The psalmist does not say the affliction was resolved and everything was put back to the way it was before, but he does say he learned Gods decrees and it was a “good” thing.

Why do Some Christians Have Less of The World? Psalm 142:5

We wonder at all the frustrations we face, like the lack of success in career or business.  Others seem to have more, save more, and get more but we are broke and in debt.  We feel like our life verse is Matthew 5:3, “Blessed are the poor in spirit…” The Bible offers a perspective that may help.

"I cry to you, O Lord; I say, ‘You are my refuge, my portion in the land of the living.”  Psalm 142:5.

NOT ALLOWED
The Old Testament describes the tribe of Levi as the priestly tribe that was to serve the temple. They were not given lands when the country was divided up since the Lord was their inheritance or portion. They did not till the soil, raise sheep, or harvest crops but instead served at the temple. They had less of the world but more of the Lord. Many believers today also have less of the world than neighbors and friends.

LESS IS MORE
Having less of the world's goods and pleasures frees us to respond to The Lord.  Some gifts of the spirit seem to require more of God’s presence in our lives or a deeper walk.  The ministry of prayer and compassion require us to be closer to Our Father in Heaven.  The gift of prophecy (however you define it) also requires a holier life set apart from the world.

MORE OF GOD BY FAITH
We must look to God and claim Him as our portion. Pray and say, for example...
  • "I do not have a nice car, but thank you for the car I do have. I accept you, God, as the fulfillment of my desire for a nice car."
  • When friends are talking about vacations, pray and tell God (confessing jealousy if necessary), and accept Him as the vacation you don’t get.
  • When you see people who seem happy, pray and accept God as your share of happiness.
  • When faced with failures, pray and tell the Lord and then claim Him as your success.
  • When you see people who have cool and exciting gadgets and devices, pray and say, "I do not have those cool things, but you are my exciting thing. You are my good thing."
  • When you are discouraged or depressed, say, "Father, I give you my emotions. You are my happiness."
Seek the Lord as your portion. You may have less of this world and its pleasures, but you have more of God- which is better.

Where is The Perfect Place For A Tired Soul? Psalm 91:1-2

We all long for that ideal home where our very hearts find satisfaction and are at rest. This verse points the way.

"He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord,' He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.'" Psalm 91:1-2, NIV.

DWELL
To dwell somewhere is to stay there for good, not just a visit. Many live with God on Sundays, but live away from God when they go out the door on Monday. This verse reminds us to dwell continually with God. God made us so we may enjoy a relationship with him, so we will find true satisfaction only by remaining in our permanent home with God.

SHELTER
We think of a shelter as a nice home with indoor plumbing, central heating, TVs and microwave ovens; but the shelter of the Most High was anything but that. Both the Tabernacle and the Temple in Old Testament days were places of service, even work! It was the place where the priest ministered, sometimes giving judgments, counsel, leading worship, teaching, making sacrifices, preparing atonement, sanctifying the people of God, and more than I can mention here. To dwell in the shelter of the Most High is a place of service. God designed us to serve Him as part of a relationship with Him.

REST
The good news is that we "will rest in the shadow of the Almighty." This is a promise. The Bible teaches rest as a principle. Everyone serving God, in big or little things, could claim this promise. This rest is not like sitting on a sofa in front of the TV and eating sweets, but it is comfort within our souls and peace in our hearts. It is to stop struggling.

THE SHADOW OF THE ALMIGHTY
God the Absolute Almighty faced the foe for us and we are hidden behind Him. What a safe place the Shadow of the Almighty is! Many times God commands rest, the result of this rest should be to reflect on The Almighty and that should lead to worship.

When we dwell with God and serve Him we are not only fulfilling His purpose for us but we will find we know Him better.
