What Is The First Step To Help Other People?. Matthew 7:3- 5, NIV.

It’s frustrating that people do so much wrong to hurt themselves and others. What can be done to help people?

Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye.... You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.” Matthew 7:3-5.

SIN AND CHANGE
Who does not have some secret sin? If Christians embraced this repentance lifestyle then the cause of Christ would be the beautiful thing it should be, and fulfill its potential for social good and personal redemption.

IT STARTS HERE
We think we are OK but are not. We are called to change the wrongs around us, but we must examine ourselves first and begin change within.
     * We need God to show us our sins.
     * We need to acknowledge them and deal with them honestly.
     * We need to confess them and turn from them.
     * We need God’s help to change.
     * We need success with the plank in our own eye, and then we will be capable of helping others.

PERSPECTIVE
We can’t use our shortcomings to excuse us from helping others. Jesus' teaching assumes that we will overcome that plank in our eye and we will help the other person with their speck.

People around us need a change in their lives. Christians are part of a community and have a responsibility for the good of others but we must examine ourselves and begin the process of personal change. Then we will be equipped and qualified to assist another move toward change.

THE POWER TO CHANGE
If you feel your struggle with personal moral failings are overpowering then come to the Lord and seek His power. His death on the cross conquered evil’s power. Call the Lord to come into your life and give you the victory over your sins. He wants to give you a new beautiful life.
