What To Think In Disaster Psalm 46: 9, 10

We all get caught up in the hectic challenges of modern life, but sometimes things are not just hectic they are disastrous, what are you suppose to think then?

"He makes wars cease to the ends of the earth; he breaks the bow and shatters the spear, he burns the shields with fire. Be still and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth." Psalm 46:9, 10.

BE STILL:
In this psalm dealing with the nations; God declares his power and rules over the events of this world. Then through the clatter of destruction, the Almighty says, "Be still..." There might be a disaster in our lives yet he tells us to be still. It is hard for people to be still, we like to fix all the problems around us, and our first thought is, what can I do? We try to solve problems our way, but God says, be still. God has a plan and we need to," let go and let God."

Be Still And Know I Am God. Psalm 46:10
We do not toss our brains out, sit around and do nothing- we need to do the right things, but do them with a still and trusting heart that is resting in the awesome power of God.

KNOW:
People read this verse and stop at the be still part, but the cornerstone word is "know." God wants us to "know" Him. God works things in our lives so we can know His power, His love, His character, and many other truths of God. This "know" is not intellectual but to know by experience.

WHAT DO WE NEED TO KNOW:
Through the hardships, God says, "I am God," and we realize he is the ruler of our lives and circumstances. He is Lord of nature and events, and in our trials, we learn He is God. We learn that He rules, He controls, He creates, He comforts and the list goes on and on.

RESIST OR SERVE?
God says, "I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth." God is emphatic here- He will be exalted, He will be lifted up, it is irresistible by man, nation, or devil; all will bow before Him and pay God homage and give Him worship.

He may not be lifted up in all the earth yet, but let's be sure He is lifted up in our little corner; so, resolve that as often as we have the opportunity to lift God up in our thoughts, in testimonies, and in the prayer of praise for His works.
